Dear Colleagues,

Since year 2005 when I founded Indian Cartilage Society, I had a larger dream of propagating cartilage science not in India but in Asia as well. We made a humble beginning and took four years to have our first cartilage workshop of India in year 2009 and then 1 st ICS congress in year 2011. We continued with our baby steps and could do ICS congresses every alternate year. We also reached out to sports community and did many programs such as Injury Free Sportsmen. One more initiative was to do Consensus Meeting of ICS and we came out with ‘ICS India guidelines booklet’ for the cartilage repair. Thanks to the strong ICS team of Nishith Shah, Raju Vaishya, P Rajasekar, Santosh Sahanand, Saurabh Mathur, Vijay Shetty, Rajat Jangir, Rahul Shivadey and many active executive committee members and life members; we could progress to an extent of doing yearly ICS congresses. The present dynamic team is very enthusiast and wants to take rich knowledge of cartilage repair to the very root of all Indian cities. With the support of the present executive team, we are able to start ICS-connects and ICS Regional program; both the programs are drawing a great response. In year 2023, I can proudly say that Indian Cartilage Society is the 2 nd largest cartilage society in the world.

In continuity of our annual congress activities, we are now looking forward to the 9 th Congress of Indian Cartilage Society, to be held in Chennai on 20-21 st October under the leadership of Dr Navaladi Shankar. Over the years, ICS members have gained a very huge experience of dealing with cartilage repair cases and their rich experience is seen across various arthroscopy meetings in India. As the fonder of Indian Cartilage Society, I assure you the best of scientific delivery of cartilage repair science. A big list of international, regional and local experts in the field have lined up to share their experience in cartilage repair and joint preservation. We have also devoted lot of time for discussion and case presentation, so that delegates can clarify their doubts.

It is my distinct pleasure to extend a warm invitation to all esteemed cartilage and arthroscopy surgeons for the 9th edition of the Indian Cartilage Society Meeting. This year has marked a significant milestone for our society, marked by several groundbreaking achievements. Dr. Deepak Goyal, the visionary founder of our society, has assumed the esteemed position of Secretary General within the prestigious ICRS (International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society). Dr. Rahul Shivadey, an eminent figure in our ranks, has garnered recognition as he takes the helm of the Membership and By-laws Committee within the ICRS. Likewise, Dr. Santosh Sahanand, the Immediate Past President, has earned a notable appointment as a fellow Member of the ICRS. These achievements stand as a testament to our society's dedication and excellence.. Notably, the ICS proudly hosted its inaugural midyear meeting in Dubai (icsdubai2023.ae), a significant milestone in itself. Regional meetings in locales such as Bhopal have already taken place, with an upcoming gathering scheduled in Jammu. These meetings signify the local and global reach of our society, which has expanded beyond Indian borders and put the society on the world stage . We had our downside also in the form of an immeasurable loss of a very worthy President Dr Saurabh Mathur who was a pillar of the society. His contributions to the society were immeasurable .We will miss him always.

As the second-largest society of its kind internationally, it is an honor and privilege to extend our invitation to you for the ICS Chennai 2023 event, scheduled for October 20 -21, 2023. The diligent efforts of Dr. Navaladi Shankar and his dedicated team are tirelessly shaping this congress for success. I kindly urge you to reserve these dates on your calendar, as they present a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the theme of "Advancing Cartilage Reconstruction and Beyond." We sincerely thank the Indian Cartilage Society and its Executive Committee for giving us the opportunity to host this prestigious congress.

It is a 2 day conference covering IN-DEPTH CLINICAL OUTCOME OF CARTILAGE REPAIR, NEW INNOVATIONS, TALK ON ALL BIOLOGICALS, LONGTERM RESULTS WITH ACI, ACCESSING THE SUBCHONDRAL BONE, PATIENT-SPECIFIC OSTEOTOMY, EVOLUTION IN MENISCUS IMPLANTS, NATIVE BIOLOGICAL SCAFFOLDS FOR CARTILAGE REPAIR. I am sure we are going to have interesting days listening to eminent international and national experts.

The venue for the congress is the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai and the organising committee is making sure that no stone is left unturned in its efforts to conduct an academically and socially enriching conference.
